Gauging Interest - Precision Marine SR-35 Substrate Reactors
 

Would anyone be interested in pursuing a small group buy on these "phosban" type reactors from Precision Marine?

If we can get at least 10 units spoken for we can get them for $60 a piece (which includes the 7.25% sales tax). This is actually a pretty nice deal considering these sell for $79 retail.

One of our friendly local fish store owners would be aiding us by facilitating this buy based upon our demand.

I'm not sure of the pricing on extra sponges, but he might be able to work something out in that regard.

I just picked up two TLF reactors. Oh well. Hope you get enough interest.

Am very curious why not the Phosban reactor? Seems to be the same peice of equipment for half the price? What am I missing?

I dont see a phosphate reactor on their site...I didnt find anything about recommended pump/size of pump either...

Justin, I proposed this item, over the Phosban Reactor from TLF, because I felt that this unit was built MUCH better and appeared much less likely to leak. This is a VERY heavy duty unit, with a locking seal. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't feel very comfortable using a TLF Phosban Reactor externally, which is what I hope to do with this unit...

bayareaaquarist, I'm not sure I understand your question...the Precision Marine SR-35 can be used as a phosphate reactor, in exactly the same way as any any other phosphate reactor is utilized.

As fars as pumps, I have noticed that the majority of people seem to be using MJ600's on these...but I'm sure if you're really curious you could always contact Precision Marine and ask what they recommend.

Fair enough :) I have heard several report leaks when used externally too, so good point.

Right ok...I was thinking that Justin had suggested a "phosban reactor" from the PM site...I was confused as to whether he was suggesting a unit by the same manufacturer...Either way...Put me down for one of the SR35's~!

well, we need ten confirmed buyers to make an order, as that was the minimum buy quoted by the vendor to the facilitating LFS. Once we have those 10 commitments the LFS will place the order. At this point, and I'm not 100% positive about this, but I think that payment and pick up would take place at his location.

I just sent him an email asking for further details (so thanks for asking about that).

And just to be clear, this price already includes tax, and here are no additional costs (no shipping, handling or processing fees).

BBCoach4-I'm not sure that phosban type reactors are effectively rated that way...and if they are I sure can't 't any information relating to it.

It would seem that efficiency as relative to tank volume would be dependent upon how much and what type of filter media was used, as well as the rate of flow through the filter.

But, just for reference purposes, and for what it's worth: the Two Little Fishies Phosban Reactor (which has similar measurements) is rated to 150 gallons.

I checked, and he said that we can order extra sponges for $4.50 each.

We're still trying to figure out the most equitable payment solution...ultimately it's up to the LFS since he's facilitating this buy for us through the vendor. Which is actually pretty nice of him since he had to go through the process of setting up an account with the vendor just so he could do this for us. I'll let you guys know what he comes up with as soon as relates the details to me.

Okay, here's an update in relation to pick up and payment arrangements. All units would have to be picked up and paid for at Underwater Paradise in Marysville (thus revealing our illustrious benefactor).
