Nice Doug. I was wondering if you've sen much UV discoloration of your plumbing.
I hate when I go to a big fancy aquarium and their plumbing is all brown from the sun. Yours still looks great.
Chris

redox 09/08/2007 10:40 AM

thanks Chris . everything seems to be holding up so far. Well ecept for my o3 generator got fried from salt and I dont want to have to send it back to rk2 so.....I discontinued its use about a year ago and all seems well. A couple of times I thought I might put it back online but if if aint broke dont fix it comes to mind and well....no 03 for me. more for you:lol:

H20ENG 09/11/2007 05:53 PM

You can probably take it apart and clean it out with DI water. Check the fuses and get rid of the salt. Or did it fry a component on the circuit board?

I actually put an ozone lamp in my HVAC system. I will run it on a timer for an hour or so to freshen everything up.
Before I get slammed with flames, I know its an EPA health hazard so I do it when we leave for awhile.
I enjoy the smell, my wife cant stand it. I look like Toucan Sam when we go to the local zoo / aquarium / theme park. I can find the ozone contactors and "frac towers" anywhere:D

redox 09/12/2007 05:23 AM

I think the curcuit board has seen better days. I will try to clean it as you reccommended, but I think its shot. Is there anyway to override the board . I can regen the dessicant myself. There is a lot of curcuitry in there it seems like I could do away with some of the bells and wistles. Any ideas Chris?

H20ENG 09/12/2007 12:13 PM

Not sure how those are made, but IIRC, its a high frequency unit. In that case you probably wont be able to get around the circuitry. If its just a transformer and the board is only for output control, then you may be able to jump out the board, but it will be at full output.
If you need more O3, I've heard that the little Enaly units from ebay are actually pretty decent, especially if you have the dessicant setup.
At work, I used to use the commercial kitchen ovens for regenerating the dessicant. About 2x a month I'd dry several gallon cans worth. I stored it all in new paint cans til i needed it.
Those large ovens were good for thermoforming acrylic for Nano Bowfronts too:D

redox 09/12/2007 03:01 PM

the unit I have is made by Clearwater and rk2's name on it. Do you know anything about Cw's units?

redox 09/12/2007 04:27 PM

In reality Chris I dont need the 03. Im not sure why Im even persuing it . "if it aint broke dont fix it"[IMG][/IMG]

Yep. If you had Ich issues or water clarity problems maybe, but looks like you are doing fine. Sorry, I havent researched the CW or RK2 units.

Nice pics, do you have the clownfish tang for a long time? I tried to have one in my prop system but after a while he died.

redox 09/16/2007 04:54 PM

yes I have 2 and they have been with me for about 2 years. They seem very happy as I have tons of current. They both eat frozen food;)

D.Blaine 09/17/2007 12:22 AM

Doug I see your system is looking killer so much has changed since first time I was there I would love to swing by and see your progress and ask some questions.

Also I got a bunch of frags a few months back and wouldnt mind trading some if your interested. With my tiny system I have to be picky about what I keep since space is very limited right now and I have a few of the same corals that I would like to get rid of.

:)

Dave

redox 09/17/2007 05:28 AM

yes Dave that would be cool , do you have any pics?and where did these frags come from. I dont want any outsiders (parasites)in my system. Im sure your stuff is clean but I dont want to take chances as I dont have a quarintine tank set up right now. Do you still have my #?

D.Blaine 09/17/2007 12:27 PM

Thanks Doug I still have your # so I'll give you a call soon. I have had these frags for a few months and growth has been good ( all frags have encrusted to rubble rock) and no signs of any pests, all my frags have come from reefer madness, but I have gotten a few corals from LFS so anything is possible.

Well we can talk later I now have a quarantine tank set up 24/7 and could remove any frags I was going to give you and monitor them for awhile but like a said there is no signs of pests right now.

I would like to thank you though you were one of the people that helped me get started

check out this pic of the frogspawn you gave me last year

I see you got rid of the caulerpa .good deal. I think natural sun is a big player in that stuff,I guess Im stuck with it:rolleyes:I hope zeneia dosnt pose a problem for you.

aquarius77 09/17/2007 09:26 PM

I have never seen a frog so tiny as in that first pic. Did they spawn in your system redox?

redox 09/17/2007 09:38 PM

no it was a peice I broke off the base of a colony and gave to Dave. He has obviuosly taken very good care of it , a worthy receiver. i didnt even know he still had it untill tonight . Dave my son you have done well:lol: now go out into this world and grow sps;)
