Not a monti, but some think it looks like one....
EDIT: This is not my picture. I do have a 4"x4" colony of this colony, (I got this pic and my colony through a well known frag trading sight), but all my photos of it blow! |
what is it?

Zenya, I have one just like yours but the polyps ended up turning brown on me. Don't know if it needs more light or less but definitely a good grower. Roland
Roland and Zenya, Mine browned out when I first brought it in but the polyps are going purple again and I am getting a slight green tint to the knobs or bumps or insert proper name here. It does seem to be gettting these two colors in the portion getting more light, but even that light is not bright IMO Todd |
Here are mine:
Montipora undata "Tyree" Montipora danae "Green With Purple Polyps" and Montipora spp "Orange encruster" I picked up from Dave Botwin My Montipora danae "Blue with Red polyps" My Montipora caliculata Have a few others but no pics to show them. You guys have just convinced me that I need an encrusting monti!

dude! what are ya doin...monitoring RC...I just posted that 2 seconds ago. Thanks, I really like that one too.

Not a great pic. It's in a tuff spot for me to get an accurate pic. It's cream colored and the polyps are bright, bright blue. The pic doesn't even come close.

you guys all have such great colonies of the blue/red polyp danae, I'm jealous, but my little guy is doing well. Does anyone know the growth rate on these?
|
Hey Chip, I think the growth rate on these is .00001734 polyps/second/polyp.:D
j/k i dunno |

Hey Chip, I think the growth rate on these is .00001734 polyps/second/polyp.:D j/k i dunno
well what I meant was, some frag farmers are able to tell you that certain digitatas are slow growers, even though other digitatas will grow at an incredible pace, so I was wondering well these things moved. I'm assuming since it's encrusting it moves much, much slower then a digitata, but who knows. |
Here you go...

Mine is growing in a rapid pace but I started out with just a spec frag. Todd, I do hope the purple polyps do reappear as the coral isn't worth looking at if it doesn't. Roland |

I do hope the purple polyps do reappear as the coral isn't worth looking at if it doesn't. Roland
I have a fairly large colony of it in lower light and it is blah. I took a frag of it and it's purple polyps are coming back and the bumps are all turning a light green. It has promise. I do believe that if I raised it up a little, it might speed things up... Unfortunately I have no room lol Todd |
