I really like the rockwork... very nice tank. Not much room for coral growth but the colors look great. Good luck and please keep the pictures coming.

Anybody saved a full tank shot of Iwan's new tank? Seems like it was either just a tease or he's taken off the picture.
Here the latest pic's:

Simply amazing iwan. Wow!

I see you have a lot of chromis. Are you treating them the same as the anthias? I found that mine did very well when I fed my tank three times per day, but after I cut back to one time per day, they started to weed each other out.

iwan 11/22/2007 12:55 PM

Hi Jonathan

I don't have problems with this combination. I fed two, up to three times per day.

jnarowe 11/22/2007 01:08 PM

That's what I figured. I feel that although the chromis have the reputation of being "hardy", based on my observations as well as numerous similar experiences from other reefers, that chromis will not survive in captivity unless fed often throughout the day.

It appears to me that they have a natural genetic inclination to thin the herd, and that this behavior is magnified when they are unable to feed often as is the case in most captive reefs. I had kept 11 alive and well for over a year with feeding often, and once I lowered the feeding times, they started to thin out. I now have just one left.

Your reef is looking awesome. It is absolutely the pinacle of captive reef keeping. :)

I love Carole's work BTW. She is almost as talented as you!

Iwan, your tank is an excellent example of using Rockwork to hide the Tunzes in the tank. I know you used some Reef Ceramics for this... could you go into any detail, or do you have any pictures of exactly how you did it, or what products you used?

I like pointing out to others that Tunze's dont have to be eye-sores as many claim them to be, and direct them to this thread. For their sake, can you elaborate?

mrcrab 11/22/2007 07:21 PM

Absolutely stunning iwan. Definitely the benchmark of reefkeeping. Thanks for the update.

Good to see the growth in your tank from your last update.
Simply stunning. :)

Cheers

Chris

hahn, not sure if this is the same aquaurium, but here is a shot of the Tunze placement from the Italian forum, Acquaportal:

Hahns, here's another picture from his website. Now I understand why I couldnt tell if it was the same tank.. in his other thread he said he moved so the corals were probably moved around.

This pic shows the Tunze-cover very good. It is a pic from the same tank one year ago. The tank was to this in my old home.

I change the bulbs every 6 month.

Dudester 11/24/2007 01:17 AM

Every 6 months eh? That seems pretty frequent for T5's. Have you noticed problems if you try to use the lamps for a longer duration?
