Yes,we would like to see those from Jen you are getting.Yes I was the one that PM today.I also have the Pink Sprinkle and the Pink Lighting from Jen.Keeping these Acans are new to me.I do have PO4 problems in my system, now and running Phosban. But not sure how much light these Pink's really like? They just don't seem to puff out like one of my other Acans. They all are sitting in the same place. But the Pinkies have me a day of confussion here?Maybe it is the high levels of PO 4 but not sure. But both of these from Jen are really sweet.:p Just trying to find out what makes these guys happy. Is it lto much light, for Acans when they seem fairly tightly close. And help out there for these Pink's?And yes I do feed them 2 times a week also.

Such big colonies you have
Not after I find some safety goggles. They would be a lot bigger if I fed them or treated them well. I have about 4 colonies that I'm not sure how they lived over the last year but now that I've been feeding them they're really doing well. All the ones I got from you are doing great!

The one in the third pic is awesome, the rings usually have more red but they're WAY up by the light so its changing. The green centers are amazing. I'm thinking that whiter color is the color it wants to be. The one to the right I just got from a reefer on RC, its a Pink Lem that is all different colors. The first two pix in the second post is a Pink Floyd colony, really confused as well.

Well i have as much as i can throw into my tank, and i do screen the top off when i do get new additions, I try to get more than one cause it sucks to do all that just for one. I mainly keep sps, and the acans and micro's i get need to slowly be acclimated to it, and then i still put them in an area that does not get full strength light. My acans dont puff out like some of the others because of the light levels. I dunno for sure but like with zoa's and rics when micro's and acans are stretching they are doing that to get more light.
They should pop out a little but i dont think they are truly happy out of the skeletons that much. IMO

How do you frag these? Dremel between the actual polyps?

I like to use a wet tile saw. I cut through the back of the coral(mostly rock or skeleton) and then use a razor blade to cut the flesh. I try to cut along a ridge of polyps.

Here's a couple of my colonies. They were both run through the saw recently, and they heal over quickly.

I have been trying multiple food items for them, and individually testing the foods.
The only food that really gets them to open up is rotifyiers and cyclopeeze. Frozen live. Forget about the freeze dried crap.
They will eat mysis but only if i drop it right on them.
The hikari roti gets them turned inside out and round and round.
;)
I am going to try golden pearls next.

ReefDoctorMicromussas 10/25/2006 12:51 PM

Cyclopeeze all the way! pushed directly in thier tentcley little mouths .... I find that if I say, " BBzzzz now open up for the airplane" they do even better

calero 10/27/2006 12:41 AM

got a new one, picture is not very good and i wanna share a couple of non indo acans that i got, my first non indo's, wanna keep this thread alive too.
