I am having issues with heat in my 24AP. I can not get the temp below 84 degrees. This is with no heater and PC lighting. I modded it with the "MJ900/ Loc line" mod, but I put the stock pump on it because the MJ900 didn't flow as much as the stock pump. Has anyone else had this heat problem and what did you do?

your heat problem is coming from the stock pump i think its like 32watts and maxi-jet 900 are 8.5 watts so two maxi jet 900's only run at 17watts and give you 460gph and less heat. also did you add a second fan? i live in arizona and when i had my stock hood on my tank never got over 81

Yeah, I actually already pulled the stock pump out and put a MJ900 in. I only did it because I assumed the stock pump sucked, but now I have proof. Thanks. I haven't added a second fan, but I actually didn't know I could. Where do I get them and is the addition fairly straight forward?

all you do is buy 2 Vantec Stealth 60mm fans from http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811999601

you remove the stock fan and remove the the black cover where there isnt a fan. then put 2 of these vantec stealths fans they are super quiet and have great flow. to hook them up its simple just cut the wire from the orignal fan off and then put all the black wires together and red wires together and either heat shrink the connections or electrical tape them. you will also need 8 1 1/5" stainless srews. heres some pics of mine when i did it.

Do you have to modify the fans, or can you run the system as it comes?

slam308 no you dont have to modify the fans.

tiburone9162003 yea alot more airflow and both fans are quieter than the single stock fan.

Thanks Steven

your welcome and if you need any help when you do it just pm me.

slam308 the 2 fans make it run cooler you could also try taking off the cover over the second fan hole.
