Just wondering if anyone has done modifications on a Biocube 29 or even 14g with MH? Any heat issues? How did you go about it? Would getting one of those retro kits from aquabuys or illuming do it? Looking to do either a 70w or 150w HQI. Looked through some forums but didn't find anything. Any links would be great. Thanks!

purebullet: thanks for the link and advice. i have seen that but didn't feel like spending $300 for a retro kit. I saw retro kits for about $150 (that's the 150w hqi) but not specifically designed for a biocube. I thought maybe someone had fit one of these inside the biocube.

Here is my post of progress so far. I have to get some updated pics posted soon. I took progress pics of the hood mod on page 2.

thanks for the link. great job on the mods. great pics of the hood and parts from NT. gives me a good idea of how much space is under there. i still have to get the BC29 then i'm really wanting to put a 150wHQI in there. i'm sure heat will be an issue but i'll try and figure something out.

No prob....
I set my heater to 74, with the stock pump, light mod and skimmer the tank stays at a constant 82 degrees.
