I had a 35 hex but it was on the side of a closet. I drilled 2 holes in the wall for the overflow and drain and the sump was a 20G hidden in the closet. Don't make the mistake I did..remove all clothing and coats from the closet..

What I've seen some folks with these tanks do is put a separate small stand next to the tank and put their sump in there. That way they are not constrained by the small area under the tank.

I've seen these stands look like nothing more than another piece of furniture with a plant or something on top, but their sump etc... is hidden inside.

Just a thought.

Or allong those same lines why use the hex stand? Make or buy a more sump frendly stand and put the hex tank on it. As long as it looks nice.
