what would be a good number of watts per gallon for most corals mostly zoos, polyps, xenia, ricordia, and possibly a kenya tree?

It depends on the depth of the tank. I have a 15 gallon Zoa/Mushroom tank with a single 65 watt PC light-- that's 4.33 watts per gallon. They are doing great, but that tank is only 12" deep. If for example the tank was a 15 gallon high that is 18" tall more light would be needed. The old Watts Per Gallon is useless R

65 is fine for that.
If you go deeper or LPS get Either 2 65w PC, a 96w PC quad or 1 150w MH!
