I have my Iwaki 30XLT plumbed in as a sump return, with 1.5" flex pvc for a brief run at the intake/outtake.

There is enough residual bend in the pvc, along with less-than-perfect alignment, that the pump is being pushed down into the stand, and resonating loudly with the stand, despite rubber feet on the wooden platform it's screwed to.

I would like to use a 4-6 " run of flexible pipe at the in/out tof the pump to isolate it's vibrations and release the tension in the plumbing.

I mean really flexible, like shop vac hose. Ideally, food grade, made for liquids, 1.5" ID. I intend to use pipe clamps on the cut-away flexpvc to make the seals

The sources I've found online have required minimums, at least 25', usually 50-100'. I have some leads out looking for pity scraps.

Here's some examples I've found, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of an ideal solution or leads on someone willing to sell small lengths.

I don't know that this type of hose should be used for 'pressure' plumbing. I know that there is not 'all that much' pressure, but technically anything 'after the pump' is considered the pressure side.

I would check out the clear hose you find at your local hardware store. It is about as flexible as it gets and plenty tough for your return plumbing. Just use a hose clamp and barbed fittings. I would use more than 6" ... actually I would use a couple of feet to make this worth while.

I understand why you want to use this type of hose:

I believe this type of hose is for moving air for ventilation type applications. Even swimming pool type hose (for vacuuming pools) is a large 'suction type hose' not usually used for 'pressure plumbing'.

I don't want to say "it's impossible ... you can't do that" it may become problematic; especially when sealing the ends reliably.

You can releive the stress in the flexable PVC by heating it up with a heat gun and over bending it a little. When it cools it will spring back a little but you can always heat it again if you need to bend it more. I used to work for my Dad's pool and spa company and that is how we did it. I have even bent regular pvc pipe a little using this method for my own aquarium.

http://savko.com has it for 1.09 a foot and shipping is really cheap. They require a 5 foot peice.
I am VERY happy with my order I got my bulkheads and everything from this guy.. I think it is a one man operation.
