What is the best way to cool my 5gl nano about 3-4 degrees. I got the 70watt viper MH, and it is sweet, but I need to cool the tank a bit. The temp is now at 82 with the light and I would like it at 78-80. I don't want to buy an expensive cooler thing-a-mabob. Before I go kamakazi, trial and error, nano el nino, Is there a small quite fan someone could recommend that I could put by the tank that would work? Mahalos.

A temperature of 82F is perfectly fine and most people run their tanks a little above 80F. If you want to lower the temperature a bit then running a fan or two should work well.

You think one of the computer type fan or just a normal clip on fan? I want it to be as quite as I can. I got a more accurate thermometer and its really at 84, so a fan would be good. Thanks.

Either would work in my opinion The clip on fan would probably be much cheaper than a computer fan. It depends on the brand but both types of fanes seem to be very quiet from my experience. Right now I use a clip on fan which works great.

my 10 gallon with 70w sunpod runs between 77-82 so you should be good to go. Try lowering the temp on your heater first to make up for the heat from the mh.

i got one of the cheapo fan. It was really hard being out of season, I went to 3 or 4 places before i went to bed, bath and beyond and the dude pulled one out of the back. The temp is now on point. So nice. thanks for the help.
