View Full Version : does anyone want to buy me out?

I keep trying, but lately this tank is just feeling like a great big hassle...
now I'm getting overrun with hair algae and I'm so sick of spending an hour or more a day pulling it out. I can't get myself motivated to set up that 45g that Jason so graciously drilled.
I just don't want to piece it out... if a few people could buy up the corals and fish, then whoever wanted this stupid algae covered rock. Empty tanks I can store, but I think I've had enough. You can ask Mike, I pitched this to him a few months back... I don't think salt is for me.

What I'd like to do is get a 120g and set it up as a freshie tank... get a nice stand with drawers and a hood, and be able to enjoy it. Maintenance is just so much easier with freshwater.
I'll miss the corals, they're so much fun, but the P.I.T.A. factor far outweighs the enjoyment.

So, anyone want to make me an offer? I've talked to my husband about this, and he's supportive of the new, bigger, freshwater tank, if I can just tear this down quickly and not have to piece it out over months.

I'd really appreciate your help and support with this... you've all been so nice to me, so helpful, but after a year of working with a salt tank I just can't see myself continuing.

thanks gang.

What exactly are you selling?

RCS

I should have at least one tank up and running by tomorrow, and 2-3 more by this weekend, so I'll have some room. What have you all got to get rid of? The hair algae rock can go in the sump...

Here's a quick list and some asking prices off the top of my head.... but of course I'd deal, especially if you were to take a lot.

50+ lbs of live rock $100

rics: 2 orange, 1 pink, 1 tiny green that would be free with a purchase, not sure if it's going to make it.

white pipe organ $10

eagle eye zoo $20

turquiose paly (John is wanting this) $15

neon blue zoo $15

green eyed zoo $10

blue eyed zoo $10

pink zoo $20

gsp rock $10

star polyp $10

a few more duller zoo rocks $5 each

lots of shrooms, make offer

trumpet 4 heads, $15

pom pom xenia $5

green feather duster on rock $10

more assorted palys, make offer

bicolor blenny $10

pair of pj cardinals $15

firefish $10

clown from Mako, free to a loving home (I can't charge for something I was given)

blasto, hammer, frogspawn, yellow polyp rock, make a fair offer

Please don't try to talk me out of it, I've done a lot of soul searching and this is what I need to do. I would love it if someone bought most if not all of it at once.

I also have that tank that Jason drilled, asking $100 just to get out of it what I have in it... it's a 45g tank, drilled with a calfo overflow, never had water in it. The glass has scratches inside from the previous owner. Also comes with the stand, canopy, 2 light strips and glass top (if you want that stuff), it all came with the tank when I got it.

I'll be home for the long weekend so anyone is welcome to come and pic it all up!

Oh, once the tank is empty I'll also have the light fixture for sale, I'll be asking $75. It's a coralife PC, 36" long, it'll need new bulbs. I'll also sell my Coralife super skimmer (for 65g) again asking $75. I've got a bunch of test kit stuff, $20 for all that. Odds and ends that will probably get thrown in here and there...

I've gotten an offer and will pursue that before any others.
Thanks everyone! I hope you'll still let me pop in at a meet once in a while just to say hi? :D

Sorry to hear you go, but keep us posted on what is sold and what you still got.

The great big fresh water tank will look nice though, where are you going to put it, I say have it be the divider between you 2 livingrooms, that would look sweet. With a 2 ft arrowana!

Hi all, thanks again, you're a great group and I'm glad to have met so many of you.

At this time all of the fish and coral have found a new home. The live rock is still available as well as the tank, skimmer and light...

I have plans of putting the 120g where the 72g bowfront is. That tank will be sold at that time which will be hard, but if I get what I really want then it'll be worth it. Have you seen those new stands that the Dr's have? I want something like this:

What will you put in the 120?

African cichlids or Discus would be fun :) Would still have to come see when it's done then too !!

you're more than welcome to come see it! :D
Discus, noooo, I may as well stay with salt! lol! I like peaceful tanks, where I can add whatever when I see something neat. That and my 8" long pictus cats need more room to cruise!
I want to get one of those blue lobsters... I've always wanted one of those. Problem is then I probably shouldn't have that school of 20+ neons that I was thinking about. Such a basic simple fish, but they're so fun to watch.

LOL, peacefull pretty much trows the African Cichlids out the window too, since they are the freshwater version of the evil damsels!

Fun though :)

Good Afternoon Folks.
Jessica had a couple of coral pieces that I had to have so I bought the whole lot (plus the fish). Now I find myself with toooooo many fish and corals. I will be selling a bunch of them including the pajama cardinals and a bunch of the corals. I plan on bringing a big ol' box of them to the meeting this weekend. My plan at this point is just to offer the corals up at $10 per bag. Some of the bags will be mixed frags and some will be single species. Bring your money and bring your colloers because I am bringing a lot of corals.
PM if you ar interessted in the cardinals or in any of the corals Jessica listed earlier in this thread (and you just can't wait til the meeting). See ya this weekend.

Sorry to hear you are getting out. My tanks are always a bigger PITA during the summer months when I want to be outside and enjoying the weather and working with the horses. I will take the 50 lbs of LR for $100 if it is still available. I will probably just let it cook until next fall to be honest but I know that I will want to expand come winter. Let me know. Thanks!

Yeah yeah...re-painting rooms and such has been getting in the way.

On the up-side, that live rock with the hair algae is in my sump, and there's no hair algae on it anymore.

Guys, I think Jess sold out a LOOOONG time ago.

She was just on... 2 days ago... I'm not sure if it's sold, but since I was the one that drilled and built it, here are the pics I have. I still have her number, pm if you want it.

Jason.

Here was the layout.

I can tell you is cost about 60 bucks for the bulkheads, silicone and glass, so doing the math, the $ for the tank, and and other stuff... is a steal.

She was worried about it not draining fast enough. anyone here will tell you that you can run ALOT of water thru those 2 @ 1.25" bulkheads, and then the 3 return lines are 3/4". I don'tthink it ever saw water after I got done with it.

thanks Jason for posting pics, and I was on the other day and sent a pm to veilside. No, it never did see water, and I sure would like it gone now for the room.
I'm happily set up now with a blue cherax quad crayfish in my 38g, that was my little reef tank, and I've got all sorts of little fishies (tetras, danios, rams, swordtails & corys) in my 72g. All's well for my tanks, and I truly hope that all of my friends here are also having great success with their tanks as well!

Jess, I think you'd be surprised at how distinct the lack of hair algae is on the rocks I got from you! I honestly don't think there's a speck on it. Of course, the Anthelia didn't seem to enjoy the treatment too much either (little light for about 4 months), but I think there's enough of that going 'round the club I can probably get my hands on some...
