I am putting together an acrylic box and one of the pieces is about 1/16" too wide. What is the best way to trim about 1/16" or even 1/32" off the side of a piece? It is for a baffle, so it really doesn't matter if it is not exactly straight since leaks would not be an issue.

I trim some baffle lexan sheet for a friend's sump. I use a ruler and a marker to see where I need to cut (it was maybe 1/16"-1/8")and use a dremel

table saw if you have one. Pretty tough to trim 1/32 otherwise.

Use a laminate trimming router bit, it works perfectly!!

If you have a jointer, set it to the desired depth and cut. it will cut exactly what you set it at.
Good luck

Good luck yep. jointer would definitely give you the best result. especially if you're wanting to cement the project together and want it water tight. the next best would be a router table followed by a table saw. i doubt any of the other suggestions would give you a good enough edge to cement with and still have a watertight, bubble free seam. even a table saw with a fine tooth blade will have a rough edge for cementing purposes. i have a table saw and router. even with those, if i'm building something that needs a good seam, i'll have the acrylic shop cut the pieces for me and have them put a "cement-ready" edge on it with the jointer. just my experience though. just take something with a nice sharp hard edge (like a good stiff knife)and drag it along the edge to scrape some off. dont try and cut it off just scrape. a couple of good pases should get ya there. thats how i trimmed my baffles.
