The easiest way is try to find way to cover that hole and drill another hole. Honestly, I would replace the skimmer. Good luck!!

you buy it and i'll put it to use, other wise its all i have. i can't cover the hole because its curved on one side.

If you don’t think that some glue or Weldon would solve the problem …

You could cut away the area that is depressed, cut yourself an appropriate size sheet of acrylic, heat it in your oven and quick set it on the skimmer to take shape. You could try to get crafty and squish in the acrylic in that broken area to replicate the angle of the venturi.

You could also just shape the acrylic ‘round’ just like everywhere else then take a SCH 80 fitting that fits the venturi, cut the end at a sharp angle, drill a hole in the acrylic and glue it to it. That way when you shove on the venturi it would be set at an angle similar to how it was.

I think the body on those skimmers is PVC so theoretically you could simply use PVC glue to glue it back together (depending on how warped/damaged the parts are). PVC glue is a solvent so you might even be able to patch holes with small pieces of PVC and glue.

It might work better If I had the right pump for it. Other than that It works ok I get alot of dark stuff and thats what I have is a 55 looking to go bigger lol

I think some epoxy would fix that no problem.

i bought a blueline 30x for this skimmer, but if its to much i just divert some back in to the sump via ball valve.

Use one of these. Welds the plastic together.

Home depot has an acrylic base 2 part epoxy that would work perfect for that, it is called Plastic Fusion. When it drys its as hard as the PVC is and its fine for you tank...

You could drill out a circle and try to use a uniseal.

That is cool! I didn't know that you could find a unit for around $30.00

I'm sure you get what you pay for, but most things at Harbor Freight have been decent so far. They have their fair share of junk too.

Has anyone used this very unit before?

I have a Top Fathom 200 I've been thinking of modding into a recirculating needle wheel skimmer But for now I just don't have anything to use it on.
Mine has been collecting dust for a few years now, I was shocked to see any of them still being used.
Maybe I'll throw it in the sale forum so someone can get some use out of it.

IMO Two part epoxy is the answer to this problem.

That unit also requires an air compressor to run it
