I will be starting a diy skimmer soon. it will be made with acrylic.
wanted some info on how to make the funnel part at the top of the skimmer body.
I thought i seen someone hear on RC made one by forming that part in the oven. any help or links would be nice.;)

That's awesome!!! Never occured to me to bust out a funnel!!!!

I just purchased a couple acrylic tubes from the local plastic shop.

Just routed the inside of the tube once weld-on was to flat piece.

Did he do that in the barbeque as pictured??? I thought that there was concern with heating acrylic in an oven that the fumes or vapours could ignite...

ok the skimmer body is going to be 5"dia and 18" tall, what size riser tube should I use? I was going to use 2-1/2" dia or will it be better to go bigger?
also what size pump should I use with this size skimmer? some type needle wheel pump is what I am looking for. It will be a recirculating skimmer.

I have riser cones that i make that go from 5" od to 3 1/2" od, let me know if that size would work for you or if you have another size in mind i can adjust for almost any size.
