Glueing PVC

I know you just use the standard PVC glue but after its glued how long should it dry and should you do anything else before you start using it in your tank?

Read the label on the particular glue and primer you use. Oatley says 2 hours to cure above 60 degrees F.
As soon as its cured it is inert and should be safe to use. If you feel like you need to rinse it go ahead, I don't believe it's necessary however.
