Cool pendant

I have a 250w mh de pendant that looks like this:

It gets very hot and I want to take a small computer fan and mount it on top in the center to suck air out. Is this a bad idea? I'm worrying about dust buildup causing a problem with the bulb and possibly something bad happening. Has anyone ever done this before?

Oh yeah will the fan melt?

Instead of laying the plastic fan right on the hot surface, make some brackets out of aluminum and mount the fan just above the surface.
