I've been using an AP NO3 test, and between 0 and 10 the colors are vague, there's basically no way to pinpoint a value. Also, the colors seem to change between batches, probably from poor printing methods. One older NO3 test shows a different shade of yellow for 5ppm than a more recent one.

And, from 10 to 20 is a huge step, especially in a reef tank.

What NO3 tests are out there that can give me a finer resolution of ppm from 0 - 10 or 0 - 20? I did see one that was a $50 kit on MarineDepot - I don't want to spend that kind of money.

i would go with salifert. I to was using a AP kit and wanted something that would target a lower range. The salifert kit has a medium range and a low range. The medium range has 0,2,5,10,25,50,100 on the scale. For the low range you look threw the test tube a diffrent way and then the range is 0,.2,.5,.10 etc. It is a bit more then the AP test but well worth it for the lower range. $16 where i got it from last.

I'll look around for that kit. I've seen it in a few places, but its more expensive than you paid (I can't justify $50 for a single test kit!)
