What I have looks like very fine particles floating about in the water.

Water params:
Ammonia 0
SG. 1.023
Nitrate 5.0 ppm
Ph 8.3
Alk 2.97 meq/L
Kh 8.3 DKh
CA 425 ppm
sand bottom, 2-1/2 inches deep.
125 AGA, 30 gal. sump.

They are not air bubbles.
I have tried actvated charcoal with no help from it.
Tank has been running with small amount of live stock for 1-1/2 months.
Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a picture?

Do you have a skimmer?

Might be left over food or already used food.

Are you adding any chemicals that could be precipitating out?

Is it something new or have you always had it?

Thanks for the replies.
It does not show up in the pictures I took, cheap cameras.
I am running aTunze DOC skimmer in the sump. I do not believe it could be left over food, as I feed only once a day, and the small amount of live stock I have eat it just about all of it. The peppermint shrimp usually grab all the left overs.
The only chemicals I have added is a 2 part ALk/CA supplement, that I do test the levels for. Coraline is growing quite rapidly right now.
I am using RO water purchased at a local grocery store vending machine.
This started about 3 weeks ago.
Thanks in advance for any help.

It may just be organic detritus floating around. Most tanks have some.

I as always agree with Randy, I would put a filter sock on a return line and see if this clears it up. IMO

I would bet its microbubs from the Doc, I have a 9010 in the sump, doesnt transfer bubbles to the tank as its 3/4 compartments away, but it continuously leaves a bubbly scum in the next chamber. Its coming from the bottom plate which I may have on the wrong way.

Kent makes a product that clears your water like magic! i think it's called "pro clear" for marine aquariums. I used to have a problem when my caulerpa crashed and it cloudied up my water and nothing would clear it up. I went out to buy a skimmer, "1oo micron" filter media, new charcoal and nothing worked. The LFS tried to sell me a UV sterilizer to fix my cloudy water problem. the pro clear worked in about two hours after adding it to my aquarium and the organisms did not seem to be affected. This sounds like a commercial but I really love this product. good luck!
