I'm considering them too. A lot of good info on RC about them.

I run about 520 feet of T-5s. In my case, the cost savings on electric and the output of light are the key factors that convinced me to go with them. I really like them! Very efficient lights when a high polish reflector is used.

I'm running 6x54w over my 48x30x16 100g. With clear, shallow water, they are definately as bright as MH. Some of my ricordia, which were under 2x250w halides for 2 years, had to be moved to a more shaded area because they were actually beginning to bleach a bit.

Just make sure you do some research on how many bulbs and what colors you should do. I've been doing T5s for about 2 years now, so feel free to ask me too.

Good luck!

I use a 250MH and 2 54w t5 actinics. I am thinking about going all T5's though.

prance1520 - is that a retro kit or a fixture of some type?

Shameless plug: I relocated and downsized my tank so I'm going from 48" T5s to 24" T5's shortly. I will have several 48" bulbs available in the near future varying from new to about 1yr old - GE Starcoat and Actinic. If anyone is interested, I'll post what I have when I swap and go through my stuff.

FWIW - I am currently doing a mh and T5 setup, but got great results from just the T5's. I agree that a good quality reflector can make a very big difference.
