wow...

I can't picture it flying in the air and stabbing the guy! That's insane! And how do they manage to always nail the heart?

That's just crazy! And they can't even find the barb in the poor guy!

No way that's a random chance encounter. Perhaps they were fishing and accidentally hooked the ray or something. Something would have to happen to make it jump out of the water like that.

This species is capable of leaping completely out of the water when pursued.

I've been in the water with a few of these, and they really are amazing creatures. Incredibly graceful as they "fly" through the water. They make it look completely effortless.

Something else to keep in mind....these spotted eagle rays are absolutely huge. The ones I encountered were easily 6' across. In the link above, they say that largest go about 10', and can weigh 500 lbs. :eek1:

seems like stingrays have declared war on humanity ... let's just hope they don't develop opposable thumbs or we will be in real trouble.

Freaky for sure.

I just hope they don't get unwarranted fear/hatred from humans because of these freak occurrences, much like sharks have.

Stingrays are trying to take over the world.

This is only Reason #238 why the ocean will kill you.

Steve Irwin died the way he lived...with animals in his heart

'81 year-old man fights stingray.' The compelling sequel to '81 year-old man fights osteoporosis.'

They have found our weakness......and they are exploiting it. Our weapons are useless; God help us all. We must poison the ocean before they become too powerful to stop.

It leaped into the boat: the boat owner decided to pitch it out [it was a 3 foot spotted [maybe eagle] ray] and he got nailed.

They had to push the barb all the way through the heart to get it out, and he survived. Fortunately he was not alone, and was fairly near shore. A 911 call was possible, and they got him to the hospital asap.

I like the guy in the video with the massive comb-over. In another year, it will be starting from his neck! Sad story...
