I have 3 specimens of Sabellestarte. For some odd reason, they decided today would be a nice day to reproduce. So now they take turns releasing clouds of eggs and sperm into my tank. I'm happy they're feeling comfortable enough to reproduce, but is this going to harm my tank in any way? The water is fairly cloudy, and they don't look as if they're going to stop any time soon. should I do a water change?

Thanks in Advance,
Lev

Too much sperm and eggs in the water can lead to water quality issues. It all depends on how big your tank is and how large the animals are in relation to the tank.

If your water is cloudy for a very short time and then clears up, nothing to worry about, but if it is still cloudy hours later, it could be a problem.

Any idea what triggered the spawing?
