I've heard of people swithching impellars in Mag pumps to get more or less water output.
I want to put a Mag 12 impellar in a Mag 9.5. Will I have to buy a new impeller AND cover??? Any help greatly appreciated.

Dont think you can do that. Mag9 and 12 are different bodies. AFAIK, it works with Mag2/3/5/7 and 12/18, 24/36. The Mag9.5 is the only one that doesn't share a body with a similar pump.

How do you have it plumbed? To get the full flow from it, you need 1.5" plumbing. 3/4" kills the flow.

"The Mag9.5 is the only one that doesn't share a body with a similar pump."

Thanks for the reply. Someone on here said it was possible if you change the cover also. That would really suck if not. I'm using 1" plumbing due to space limitations. I'm looking into bumping it upto 1.25", but thought this would be one easier, cheaper way to bump up the flow regardless if I switch plumbing.

Anyone else have experience???

Maybe you could use the cover from a Mag12. Dont know. The Mag12/18 has a longer body, and I assume a longer impeller as well. The 1" is sill restricting you a lot. If you go to 1.25", you can use the thinwall sched26 "200 PSI" PVC. It has ~ the same ID as sched 40 1.5".

I was at my LFS today looking at impellers. I have a Mag 18 that I want to slow down. The 12 and 18 impellers are the same size with exception of blade thickness. The 9.5 impeller is about half the length of the 12 & 18. They definitely won't interchange.
