I have a Aquarium Pharmaceuticals test kit. I was just wondering if these kits are accurate or any good at all?

They're pretty good. I've had good results with the Calcium, Ammonia and Nitrite tests. Never tried the Alk. The Nitrate is hard to determine between 5ppm and 0ppm, something the Salifert is much better at.

The most popular kit is Salifert, reliable and most are easy to use and read

AP tests are ok. I made calibration solutions to see if I could narrow down the tests' ranges, but so far, I have only been able to make NO3 and PO4 solutions. My particular batch of kits was off by 10 ppm (less) and .2 ppm (more), respectively.

I agree. There's a lot of crap test kits out there, but AP is pretty good. I use both, AP and Salifert.

I have used AP tests for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, and Alk for a couple of years without any problems. My local fish stores use them too. I use Salifert for calcium, phospate, and now alkalinity because I prefer the higher resolution. Salifert is a little more precise (I can't speak for accuracy). Do you care how exactly how high your ammonia or nitrite are or just if they are present? (Should be the latter) That is why I save a little money on those tests to buy more of other tests.
