This weekend i am buying the rest of the stuff i need for my setup, test kits/water treatment/salt and a quarentine tank.

I was wondering what is the best way to mix up water and salt? It is a 90 gal i was thinking of mixing the water in the tank, would that be ok?

Im going to get some fiji lr and i was wondering how long do i have to wait till i add the lr, just wait till the Specific
Gravity is to 1.023-1.025 then add it? Also i work during the day if the lr is delivered to my house and i have someone waiting there for the package, will it be ok till i get home?

Im trying to do as much research as i can before i get the tank started.

I have done freshwater for years and trying to go to this hobby

Ill probably ask more questions as i think of them!

Just a bucket or larger container... Fill it up with FW and than mix the salt in. Test the water level after it has been fully mixed up. Once it reached the corrrect SG- 1.025 ( recommened ) than put it in the tank. Never add salt directly to the tank unless the tank is emty. ( no rock or salt and you are just setting it up )

If the tank is empty you can mix in the tank. But never do that in the future :)

Water first. Salt added slowly. If you have a powerhead, or other pump... get it going for circulation.

Word of advice... start with RO/DI water and not conditioned tap water.

If i was to get an RO/DI than ill have to wait a week or 2 to get the money up, does it make any difference starting with conditioned tap water? Will it hurt if i hold off on the RO/DI till i get the money for it? I really want to get the tank started soon, i was planing for one :D

The RO/DI is great, imo. It will get rid of all the impurities of your municipal water. If you don't have the unit yet, maybe get some from your LFS or you can used bottled RO water from the grocery store. It'll cost you though.

IMO you will be much happier with RODI water. I started my tank with conditioned tap water and I really really really wish I didn't.
