Is a 50W heater enough for my 35Gallon FOWLR?? I have been using the same heater for 2 years (in the same tank only with african cichlids) and the temp never fluctuates and seems to be bang on to what I set it to. I am just wondering because i was looking at heater prices and it shows 50 watt heaters are rated for a 15-20 gallon tank.

i would think it should be ok. but if you keep your house cold, it may be kinda week for that. i have a 100 what in my 20, and seems to be bit of an over kill. you can pick up a 100 what for like 15.00. that is your best route

dont go too high on watts, if it gets stuck on, you will cook your tank

a 25watt heater that is currently stuck on (all the time) keeps my 20g at 80-82,

when i had a 75watt in the 20g, it got stuck on and the temp shot up to 88

best bet is to get a temp controller, i need one for my 120g

50w is perfect for that size tank... I personally think anything above that is a risk.
