Dying snails?

I am having trouble keeping my snails alive, does anybody know why? Also how do I get rid of green hair algae on my sand bed? The snails won't go on the sand bed.

how long has the tank been setup? what are the parameters? what kind of snails?

it could be your tank isn't cycled yet and still has some ammonia and such

it could be that they are starving

and all depends on the types of snails for diff. alage. i found that turbo's go for hair alage more than others

nazureth (sp?) snails will dig and borrow in the sand for under gravel movement.

The tank is about 8 months old. They deffinitily are not starving because there is plenty of hair algae for them to eat. I have tried all types of snails: turbos, trochuses, nassarius, astreas.
