All my corals thusfar have been from experienced reef aquarists so I didn't feel the need to do a dip. I got a ricorida from a LFS store today and would like to make sure there is nothing funky on it. What exactly am i supposed to do. Just take some RO/DI water and throw it in there for 30 seconds?

30 sec. may be a little too short.
I dip my zoas anywhere from 5-8 minutes.
Not sure if Ric's are the same deal.

do not FW dip rics, they will melt away.
Lugols 1 gal SW and some flatworm exit will help you. Unless you can do the rock only, I don't suggest FW dipping rics.

I have never had the guts to do a FW dip even with a fish. I do use Flatworm eXit as a dip, though. The Lugol's might be a good idea, too.

Iodine and Potasium Iodide solution. You can find it labeled as "SeaChem Coral Disenfectant" and "Kent Rx somethingoranother". You may or may not be able to find it OTC in a drug store.
