Sump questions! need help

Im deciding how to setup my sump for my 90g..

i was first gonna make one out of a 30g long and have it

return/skimer area... over under baffles...refuge area..more overunder baffles and then the return pump area..

the tank would be about 50 bucks and materials and such would be around 50 bucks soo

then i found this on my local reef club.

is either setup gonna be better or will they be the same..

ive seen people do the skimmer - return - refug style sumps but i only have one drain so how would i equally distribute the water for bothe the skimmer area and the refug area..

any help would be great
