Does anyone have one or has any one every had one? I recently got back from Hawaii and the aquarium on Waikiki Beach has some in a tank. They are very interesting Inverts. I remember a long time ago seeing these for sale at a LFS but have not seen them since. Are they just too hard to keep or are they a protected species?

I have seen them in local fish stores. They ususaly dont do well because they require a cold water tank. In the low 60 degree range. They seem to wither away in a normal tank. Hope this helps.

I've never seen one myself. Check this forum, maybe someone there has.

They need to be kept in a species tank for sure. As mentioned, they are a deeper water animal, needing rather specialized (though not complicated) conditions in terms of lighting and temperatures.. They are not overly hard to keep, IMO, but they can be rather boring, frankly. Putting them into one of our typical tanks would not work though, IMO.

id use an acrylic tank if you just had to get one. they are fast, hard and heavy. quite capable of cracking a glass tank IMO. we had one at the store i work at for a few weeks before it sold and he floated the whole time, just like the one in the pic. I heard a customer mention drilling a hole in his sheel so he could sink!!!! thats a cruel let alone risky procedure on a $300 invert!!! no a good choice for anyone except a dedicated and knowledgeable Ceph-nut if you ask me.
