Pacific Coast CL-280 aquarium chiller. 1/10th HP. Has digital temp controller built in. This unit was purchased 6/24/04 from Premium Aquatics. It is in perfect working condition and was pulled from service in Mid July 2006. It was cleaned and topped-off with fresh Freon. I had this unit working flawlessly to cool an 80gallon reef tank in a swamp cooled home in AZ. It was not able to keep up with my new 110tall tank so I replaced it with the PCI CL-650.
The chiller was serviced at the beginning of each summer season. The chiller has also been fitted with a standard R134a fitting so you can fill it with a standard recharge kit sold at all auto part stores for about $15.00, as I did.
The only problem with this chiller is that the plastic threaded pipes that come out of the chiller broke during tightening of the union fittings. They are fragile and plastic. I placed the unions directly on the threaded pipes and they do not leak. It just does not have the retainer rings any longer. This does not affect performance in any way.
The kit includes the standard fittings and manual that came with the unit. For more info on specs, view this page. The chiller is extremely quiet, efficient and powerful. If I lived in a AC home, I’m confident this would have met the needs of my 110tall.
New price is $379. Will sell for $225 plus shipping.
