View Full Version : Steve Irwin's Death on TV?

Do you think they are going to release the video they were making when he got killed? I would be thinking not to show it to children, but what do you think?
Speculations have surfaced which suggest the tape of Steve Irwin's death may be released for broadcast on television.[51] However, the opposite has also been stated. Irwin's friend and manager John Stainton told CNN's Larry King "[The tape] should be destroyed".[52] Nevertheless, Irwin had commented that, if he were to be killed by an animal, he would want the incident filmed. His family may allow the footage to be shown.[53]

I think it would not be so good to show that. i think we should remeber him how he was before he died.
I wouldn't want to see it, but if his wife allows it because of something he said, I'd have no problem with it.

:) I agree, I wouldn't WANT to see it, but what I and everybody else want and don't want is pretty insignificant I think ;). Its should be up to his family to decide what happens to the film...

well yeah, i think it's definatly up to his family.........what we say or want has nothing to do with it.

It would be cool to see all of the footage, except the actual death blow. However, I doubt it will ever be televised.

I doubt that if it is put on TV that the final blow would be aired. Think of the "scandal" during the Super Bowl Half Time Show a few years back. No body would be able to get away with it. I say the video should be kept by Terry. I also think that some sicko and the police station where it's being kept as evidence may make a copy and sell it to the highest bidder, or put it on the internet. It will eventually be "leaked" out.
Think of how much baby pictures go for..........

They went back out after this death and finished the footage for this trip. They fully intend to air the documentary minus the incident.

Steve made it clear, if he was ever to die doing what he loved he wanted it shown, but Jim Stainton the producer and Steve's good friend said it was too painful to watch someone you care about die, right in front of your eyes.
Also you have to think of the Irwin family, Teri is having a rough time!!

In a million years I would never understand why someone would want to watch a film of someone dying. Imagine if it was one of your family, would you want to see it?

Anyone know if they are going to show the memorial thing on TV again? I only got to see a little bit last week.
It's been on a lot, just check the tv guide. I'm not even going to watch it. I've had enough, I don't need to see anymore depressing footage. I'll remember him for his shows and watch those.

I have no interest in seeing it or having it broadcast. The guy's dead and we all know how it happened...leave it at that.

There's two parts of this......
FIRST - I think the video he was making should be shown as it was originally intended to be. Not of his death or anything of that nature, but as the video he was working to create.
SECOND - Anything related to his death shouldn't be shown unless his family endorses it's release AND there is something that we can really learn from it other then the fact that tragic accidents occassionally happen to those who work with wild animals.

Really, why indeed. I loved the guys show and everything he did. Just because he was a celebrity why should his death be broadcast?. Just because it was caught on film? Have some respect.
They are allready have a movie in the works.

I agree. They should complete filming of the show and just ad lib kind of like they do in the rare case a movie star dies in the middle of production. None for the worse of wear. Personally, I would hope that the bulk of the footage should never be aired to the public, but I would like to see it. Not because of the morbidity of it, but for the ray itself. That was a once in a million shot from the ray and it was caught on film. It would be difficult and almost traumatizing to watch the man in the video known to us all by Steve Irwin, but you would have to put that out of mind and go by John Doe. There could be lots of detailed and interesting information to be gained for the scientific community from the video. It would be difficult to watch repeatedly, but certain parts could be very valuable.

I would not be surprised at all if it does make it out on the internet. Remember the Americans that were be-headed in Iraq? Those vids did.

I wouldn't be surprised either. But the beheadings were aired by Al-Qaida (Spelling?) on the internet, I thought. FWIW, I didn't watch those though I had the ability to. I just couldn't find any scientific reason why it would even be beneficial to me.
