i am looking for a chiller for a 180 gallon tank - will the 1/4 handle a tank of that size - have been told i would need a 1/3

What temp are you trying to keep the tank at? I kept a 200 gallon at 78-79 without problems. I was running 4 metal halide 250s too. The company shows the 1/4 good up to 260 gallons. Here are the specs: http://www.jbjlighting.com/prod_chiller_pg.html

2 400w mh - want to keep the tank in the 77-80 degree range - have seen a 1/3 aquanetics offered used at 600$ - how does 400$ for your grab you?

4 250s is more wattage than 2 400s! I can't do 400. This is a really nice chiller that I paid over 700.00 for less than 2 years ago. I can live with 450.00, but I am going to have to hold firm at that.
