What size tank would be acceptable for a blonde naso tang? Yes, I've read the "what tang for my 30" sticky and no it's not for my current 40 gallon. :D I want to upgrade and make this my centerpiece fish.

Heres what live aquaria says

I'd say even bigger than a 125 and at least 6 ft long.

I would say at least a 6' tank at minimum. I have an 8' 375gal with a blonde naso and he swims up and down the tank all day long. Very active fish who needs lots of swimming room.

A 180 gallon tank would be a size it could live a full life in.

I would say buy the tang, ship it to me and I'll tell you if he likes an 8' tank:)

JJ... Seriously go as big as you can. Why go for the smallest he can get by in:)

lol... ever seen a full grown naso?? HUGE! i would say a 500 or more for a full adult naso. think BIG, then add another 200 gallons to it. lol

My initial thought for the upgrade was a 180. Thanks, I really want that fish! :)

180 really isn't big enough for a naso. I have a 180 and i feel like im cramping my 3-4" hipo tang... A naso is a lot bigger then a hippo. I wouldn't suggest anything less then an 8 foot tank. And even then, is probably 4 feet to small...

Naso's get fricken huge. 8' at absolute minimum. Theres a big one in the local aquarium, in a tank about 18' long, and he swims laps.

I'm with Zemuron and RichConley. Full grown Naso tangs in the wild approach 2' in length. After seeing a giant naso in Hawaii last year, I would never even consider putting one in my tank. A 10' tank would be two small. There are plenty of other attractive fish out there...pick one that's better suited to our comparatively modest tank sizes.
