I am looking at getting a new lighting fixture, with my budget it will be PC. I am trying to get the best i can for the money and have a few questions. What lights should i get to have the most true to life photoperiod. I have seen the daylights (6700k and 10000k) and the acitnic, and the lunar lights. Is that all that is needed. These are the two i have been looking at the most. Any experience or opinions on these.

If money is a concern why don't you try building you own lighting system. You can have a very nice lighting system this way for a 1/3 to 1/2 less of buying a complete lighting system. I have a $600 lighting system that I put together for about $350.

I would consider this more if i had some kind of canopy, but i have just a basic hood. You have any pics of yours?

What do you guys think about these?

The wattage seems low but i have heard T5 is more energy efficient. It will be the 30" Double Bulb fixture.

You need the High output T-5 for Coral.

I have owned both. I would definitely go with the Current USA.

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures, but a hood is pretty easy to build as well.

I considered this, but i am still in an apartment and lack the proper workspace and tools.

The coralife T5 fixtures also do not have individual reflectors to get the light coming out of the back of the bulbs directed down toward the tank. This makes a huge difference in the actual "output" of the lights and I would make sure that you get them should you go with T5's.
