Anyone keeping Jawfish (or sand sifting Gobys or sand burrowing wrasses) in silica sand? If so, how long have you had them? Any issues with the "sharper" particles seeming to harm the fish? I've seen some great looking silica sand and the price is definately better, especially when adding about 200 pounds worth.

I think your going to have a very bothered jawfish. You need a substrate of varied makeup (many sizes), or they end up only being able to dig pits, or have terrible cave in accidents. In addition, without a suitable burrow, they are even more prone to jumping out than they already are.

Thanks 13engrsapper. I understand that a jawfish needs various types of rubble to form a good home, however my concern or question is whether or not anyone using a silica based sand has noticed any harmful effects from the sand on their animals, including population mubers of worms etc. in their substrate.
