has anyone heard if the membrain dries out befor you put it in. it will go bad & youll need a new one,

Never heard that. They start out dry...dont see why making them dry after using would make a difference...unless it was just time to change it (about 2-3 years avg use). The carbon (for chlorine removal) is very important to membrane life BTW.

ok thanks i was just checking, to see if anyone has had that problem befor, sometimes what may not happen to one may happen to someone eles, its always best to see if more people didnt than did,

When RO units are not in use for extended periods of time the membranes should be removed and stored in a air tight bag and placed in the refrigerator according to Spectra Pure.

Seems if left in the housing, its fairly airtight and no light is getting to it so it should be fine for a while....like in my case.
Any idea how long extended times would be...weeks, months, years?
