Okay, I've had an auto top off system with two float switches for about a year now. I had it set up to where the second switch would keep the system in check incase the first switch got stuck in the on position. Well looking back at it, the first switch was stuck on about a month (something looked weired but because I had the two switches fairly close together, it looked okay), and the second switch failed dumping about 5 or so gallons in at once. My S.G. went from 1.026 to 1.023 and from what I can see everything is okay.

So, what float switches do you use for you auto top off system, how long have they been working? Any brand recomendations?

I've used and had no problems with the Lifereef float switches for about 4-5 years when I had saltwater in my tanks.

I use autotopoff.com and love it. I have the dual float switch. I just made sure and tested each one seperately first before installed it. Has worked flawlessly for months now.

Where did you get yours?
Was it a DIY?

I have This one too been running for 3 years no problems.

I also have a Kent Float switch in my RO Reserve and it too works great. But you have to drill a small hole for it.

I had two switches from http://www.floatswitches.net/ and I ordered two more... but I'm thinking of using a different brand if I already had two switches fail.

I started a thread on a DIY float switch that you might be interested in. I have tried to design with a priority on reliability.
