I just had a cool idea, and was wondering if it can be done easily.
You know how rope lights are sometimes put inside sofits or crown molding so that a cool accent light is cast onto the ceiling around the edges... Well what if you put lights in baseboards and modified it so it would project light onto the walls!!??
With the standard LED ropelight I think you would just get a glowing effect just above the baseboard.... but perhaps another product could really project light up (might create heat problems).
I'm sure it has been done somewhere, but probably with specially designed product that aren't cheap. My thought was to get the beefiest baseboard I can find and run it across a datto-blade or straight router bit to create a channel to put the light into. You would then want to lower your blade or bit to cut a thin opening on top of the baseboard for the light to project up.
Wiring is another issue, but probably not too difficult. I might put a junction box underneith the new light switch, just above the basebird and hardwire a connection in there.
Anyone with baseboard experience have any feedback (or anyone else who has a helpful thought)?
