I have a CPR bakpak 2 with a limewood airstone stuffed in it as well. I have not been getting much from it. 2 days ago, I adjusted it some so that now it is skimming wet, but I got about hald a cup in 1 day.

My question is this: Is wet skimming better than no skimming? I think that you should want to skim dry foam, but it seems that no matter what I do, I just can't get that.

I have 4 fish in the 50 gal. 2 chromis, 1 perc, and 1 sixline wrasse.

Thanks!!!

Yes, in general. Do read the excellent article by Randy, found in reefkeeping magazine.

If it pulls wet skimmate, just keep in mind that you're drawing salt out of the tank as well. Keep your salinity in check. And yes I'd think it's better to wet skim than to not skim.

The dry stuff may be darker and stinkier so it looks like you are removing more waste, but wet skimming actually removes more than dry skimming.
