I was just curious to know if there are any SoCal reefers who are also keeping/breeeding seahorses?

I am thinking of giving it a try at some point.

I was thinking to set up a dwarf seahores tank at first, and end up in a nano reef tank. funny me huh...

stay away from dwarves unless you want to hatch BBS every day.

My kids have been bugging me to get sea horses (and chickens - given the choice I'll take the sea horses! Less noisy/smelly (although you can't whip up omelettes with their eggs...)).

Feeding twice a day MOST days would be OK (would need to be able to skip on weekends when I'm gone, and such). Are there any species that might fit that bill? And doesn't the water have to be cooler than normal (what, 76?)? I know there's an FAQ on them somewhere. I was mostly interested in feedback on the species...

hey there bryan :)

he's doing well, recovered nicely from the little operation. never showed any type of discomfort from the procedure. he is now completely spoiled on live food :D
