Hey,
I have a 30g. tank (36x12x16") which is currently a FOWLR.. which i am getting the idea of switchtin to a Lagoon tank..
current inhabitants are
- 2" Niger trigger
-Flame clown (1.5")
-LR.. Cheato.. small frag of zoanthids, 2 red mushrooms a pistol shrimp.. a single astrea snail and some hermits...
i am willing to get rid of the inhabitants though (i would rather not get rid of the clown though)
the sandbed is like 1.5" MAYBE 2 inches in some areas.. also it gets to about 4.5" in one area where my pistol dug up....
i need some ideas on some things i can put in here that can live with
55w PC light
i ahve an Aquaclear 110 and a HOT Magnum filter...
thats it... i want to make it a lagoon theme. ANY and ALL suggestions on inhabitants would be GREAT!
what kind of shrimp, fish, macroalgea, coral etc.

I've read you post a few times and I'm not quite sure what you're trying to accomplish with the change in set up. Are you looking to add seagrass, or just some macro? You're pretty well stocked on fish allready. The clown is going to pretty much dominate whatever else you add. The Trigger is going to outgrow the tank pretty quick.

I have a single Clarkii in a 30 gal and she would disagree. Another fish in there would be one too many. Any ideas on what type of macro? Red or green, leafy or branchy?

all kinds.. Sargassum, Caulerpa Prolifera being the main... and maybe if i can find a red type..
really i dont think another fish would be too many..

Shrimp: mantis and grass shrimp (Palaemonetes sp.) are quite common, as are millions of pounds of amphipods of several varieties

Fish: not sure what will stand up to the clown honestly, I havent had that kind of clown myself, is she typically aggressive? Smaller gobies, very small wrasses, cardinals, killies, mollies, lots and lots of juvenile fishes from herring family, grunt, blenny, flatfishes, pinfish, pigfish, moray eels and such that will of course outgrow the tank. Urchins would be native, not sure how that will work in a smaller tank with the macroalgae being wanted though of course.

thanks sarah, that helped a LOT..
the clown has shown no signs of agression but it hanst had a chance too since it is the 2nd fish in the tank and i have only had it for a few days..... but so far.. no agressive behaviour.. if he does get agressive i WILL do something about it immediatly...
when you say smaller wrasses can you give me just one example?
that would be GREAT.
TIA

got a ghost eel today.. is probably one of the best choices for a small tank.. they have very small mouths..
i could have gotten the Dwarf golden eels but they were to pricey for me... im done buying expensive fish (
