Just for those of us who have and wish to trade or what-not. Post If you have something or are looking.

I'm able to trade a frogspawn frag and a green slimer frag. I got them both from Cody earlier this summer. I split the frogspawn when I got it and one of the halves is so big now it needs to be split again. The Acropora green slimer is really fast growing, and I can take a major branch off it (before it knocks off my Monti cap). I've also got lots of little tree coral frags around my tank, and I can part with several. I passed the mother tree coral on to a friend earlier this summer but kept over a dozen frags from it. Other critters I have are still a bit too small to frag just yet.

I'll post recent pics of the above critters in my gallery later today.

I'm open to trade for things I don't already have, whatever is interesting.

I think this thread will be an interesting way to find out what others have to trade, other than word of mouth, which can be somewhat limited.

I have some neon green Sarcophyton babies again. There are two well established and the mother colony is trying to drop a couple more again.

I can't believe this was ever a hard to get coral. If everyone else's drops babies as regularly as mine does then the whole world should have one by now.

I've got orange, green, and green with purple rim specimens of Monti capricornis, and would like to add a purple frag to my tank. I'm also looking for a turquoise acro frag. If have a wide variety of acro frags to swap.

Great!

They're shedding at the moment. Let me make sure they come out of it. Also, Barrett is holding a couple for me when I ran out of room before.

I have another green slimer acropora frag that is ready to go. That things grows like crazy! And I have a very lovely Australian delicate staghorn coral frag (see my gallery). I really would like to trade, not sell (I'd like to increase my biodiversity, not my checking account!).

I'm still looking for a purple monti cap or a monti cap with polyps to trade.

And as always, Kenya tree coral frags are FREE at Chez Blundon!

Neuroslicer,

We have purple monti-cap we'd like to trade for a frag of your delicate staghorn coral. I can try to get a picture of it tonight so you can see if it is a color morph you would like.

I think we will be in Memphis the last weekend in September.

I'm back from out of town and found my two green toadstool babies are over their shed and looking good.

If you've not already gotten one of the ones from Barrett that he's holding, Dave, I can bring you one to the store this week or you can come here if you want to pick which one you want.

Jay, if no one else has pink birdsnest, I can frag some for you off my colony and start one for you.

The frogspawn that I split in 2 at the beginning of the summer is ready to be fragged again. I sold Cass my bigger half a couple months ago, and now the smaller half is so big I've got to split it again! Can't have it bumping against my growing monti dig or my T. crocea.

What with the frag trades that I've got lined up in the next week, I don't have any more real estate in my tank for any more frags (Luke, the temptation to buy a bigger tank resist you must!). So I'm just letting my present frags grow and expand. That means I can't really take any more frags in trade for now, but if you're interested in buying a really nice frogspawn I'll give you a good price.

I sent you an email. Some of the tree coral frags are really big, so instead of giving those away, like I did with the really small frags, I'll sell these larger ones. I've been selling all frags for $10. I've got my SPS under VHO lighting... PC lighting should be fine for the birds nest. I'm also ready to frag the green slimer acro again. That REALLY grows fast. It's the third time I've fragged it in 4 months.

I couldn't wait for my frag tank to arrive to frag, so I have put a couple frag trays in my main tank. I had several coral that were in need of trimming, so that's what I did today. I did them this far in advance of the frag swap to give them a chance to heal and grow a bit before going to Nashville. I'd be interested in finding out what other people will be taking to Nashville for the frag swap. Here's what I'm taking:

Bright green Montipora digitata - 4 plugs, 2 - 3 branches per plug

Green bird's nest (Pocillopora damicornis) - 4 plugs, 2 - 3 branches per plug

Brown with purple tip Acropora (Larry Jackson?) - 4 plugs, 2 - 3 branches per plug

Acropora yongei (green slimer) - 1 plug, one large branch and one small branch

Several small plugs of green star polyps

Several medium sized Kenya tree coral

I'll probably frag my Miamo orchid acro within a week or two, and get one or two more plugs from my green slimer before January.

I am a 15 year old kid who is in desperate need of cheap corals. I got high intensity lights for Christmas. Now I am making a frantic attempt to lower my nitrate level. My nitrite, ammonia, and ph are all at the correct level. So if there is anyone out there that has cheap or free corals that are available within the next week or so I am VERY interested!!!

I'm looking for anything for a new 120gal tank.

neuroslicer
01/11/2007, 12:54 AM
Keaton,
Coral reefing is not for the frantic! To do this hobby well, you've got to have lots of patience.....lots! And consistent, regular, attentive care. First off, don't put many (if any) delicate coral into your tank until your water chemistry has stabilized where you want it. The large fluctuations in ions that are occuring in your tank as a result of your trying to fix things may be too drastic for a young frag trying to establish itself, may cause just enough stress to weaken it and make it susceptible to disease that it might otherwise be able to withstand (e.g. rapid tissue necrosis).

How much patience do you need? Well, once your water chemistry has stabilized, you can start off with a tank of small frags and it might take you two years until you're really happy with how the populations looks. Some coral I have are pretty fast growing, but that's only with ideal conditions. And ideal, stable conditions require weekly, often daily attention. And even then, it has taken nearly a year for some of my nicer specimens to get to where I think they're really nice.

So slow down, and do things right the first time.

Well thanks Dr. Jay

But I read this a little too late. I bought a green finger leather, 2 leathers, 2 large mushroom rocks, pom pom xenia, candy cane, Kenya tree, 5 polyps of ricordea, and some star polyps about a week ago. As far as i can tell everything is doing great. Then last night I bought 2 more rocks of star polyps, a colony of blasstomuso (sp), and more xenia. I got a really good deal on everything so I just couldn't pass it up

Thanks,
Keaton Irving

By the way my nitrate has stabilized below 10 ppm (thanks for the algae)

I have a 5 inch colony of long green star polyps that I cut away from my reef. It has spread substantially, so I left plenty on my rock to continue to spread, but this is a really big chunk that I can part with. It was large enough (with long enough polyps) that myvery large sebae clown was hosting in it. $25 takes it away.

I've finished fragging Ramiro's brown with purple tips acro, and all the frags look great. They vary from single branch one inch long to 4 - 5 branches. I have PMed those of you who have expressed interest, but will be happy to give specific details to others who are interested.

I've now got almost 50 frags in my frag tank, and while I would like to keep most of these for a summer frag swap, I will be doing quite a bit more SPS fragging before then, so to make room I'll gladly part with just about anything in my frag tank.

Other frags include:

green bird's nest
green slimer
pink acropora
turquoise acropora
brown staghorn
pink bird's nest
brown monti digitata
green monti digitata
Psammacora
green Hydnophora
green palys
fire and ice zoas
and as always, kenya tree coral

Most frags will be $10 - $15

These palys spread rapidly as you can see from the photo. I'll sell the entire rock for $50 or frag it into two $25 pieces. Here are pics:

I moved the cabbage leather to my frag tank today to make room for an ever expanding cluster of Monti dig... so I'm particularly motivated to sell it. Any takers for $35?

I did some more fragging this weekend, and have a 5 head frogspawn available. Also several frags of:
ORA Miami Orchid acro
bright neon green candy cane coral (Caulastrea)
ORA rose millepora
several montipora digitata (green, orange, brown)
green slimers (Acropora yongei)
Psammacora
blue tort (Acropora tortuosa)
turquoise acropora
brown with blue tipped acropora
green fuzzy hydnophora

lots of palyzoas

Frogspawn and candy cane are gone or spoken for, but I still have plenty of the other frags listed on May 14. Also have a variety of palyzoas going cheap! Very! As far as the SPS, the green slimers and green digitatas are really big now but I'll still sell them for cheap just to make more room for the next round of fragging.

Greetings All,

I just moved to Nashville and am getting my 26 gallon Nano whipped back into shape.

Does anyone have some colorful mushrooms, pallys, zoas, hammer, bubble, blasto, or frog spawn frags?

I don't have anything to trade as I gave/ sold my corals a few years ago and went fish only until I could take better care of the tank.

I've got plenty of hammer

Thanks Keaton, I've picked up a hammer, a favia and a birdnest and a couple of others. I need to get it figured out before I add any more territorial specimens like a hammer.

I'm still looking for some really colorful mushrooms if anyone has a few polyps to spare.

I'm just looking forward to having a mature enough tank to have my own frags to trade. :D But love reading this thread to see what's out there.

Try Kermit's or Memfish. They might take some off your hands.
