I currently use a filter sock in my sump to collect detris from entring the sump. What is the best way to clean it?

I throw mine in the washing machine with a little bleach and after that is done I let them air dry. Works perfectly.

Any worrys about residual soap residue in the washer?

I've read that people use a dechlorinator after words to combat that problem

strange, i don't see the need to use a dechlorinator. i let my filter socks air dry for a few days before i reuse them. you could also just soak them in ro/di water after washing them if you were scared about anything.
as far as residual soap in the washing machine - i have a setting on mine for a 2nd rinse so I use that to get any possible soap out of it. So far no issue.

I bleach mine then let them soak in RODI with declorinator. No problems.
