I currently have a 20L with mostly LPS, and a couple Rics/Zoas and your occasiona Monti.
I use B-ionic 2 parter for Ca/Alk and maintain Alk at about 10-11 and Ca 400-420

My question: SHould i add mag? I dont have a tester for it so i dont know if i am depleted but the tank has been up for nearly 9 months with none added....i am getting pretty good growth on some of my coral, but not the growth i would like (when ever is it? :))

any suggestions would be welcome

I use it and I think it definately helps with the health and growth of the corals. Just MHO. I have a lot of LPS, probably 20 species and I add a gallon of top off with a couple teaspons 1-2 times a week. Good Luck

what do you use to supplement/test?

Also, i only have a 20L....so i dont think i would need nearly as much as you, but i dont know what to get.

Honestly I wouldn't dose if you don't test for it. Go get a test kit, and here is a website that can calculate how much to add, it covers a few different brand or sorces.

Agree completely. Don't skimp on the costs buying some garbage and buy a Sailfert kit. If you test occasionally, the kit will end up lasting you a good year likely. I use Kent for the little mag I need to dose.

Add me to the list! I use the Salifert Kit and I like it. Very easy to read.

I use Randy's recipe. I find the consumption in my tanks vary so I would not supplement without testing.

Dont add things you arent testing for will be the concensus you'll find here I am sure....

Some magnesium will return to the water during changes and many of the "all in one" additives already have it there.
I use Seachem products
Reef Complete

"Reef Complete™ also includes magnesium and strontium in amounts proportionate to typical utilization ratios (100:5:0.1, Ca:Mg:Sr). This allows one to maintain these two important elements while maintaining calcium"
