Looking for a tank for my 75g SPS tank. Will eventually move to a 120g tank.

Looking for something that doesn't get too huge and is nice and colorful.

Other fish that are currently in that tank:

3 inch Midas Blenny
2.5 inch Splendid Dottyback
2.5 inch Hawkfish
3 inch Copperband Butterfly

Any suggestions?

The only relatively small ones would be a yellow tang or similar shape; however you run the risk of it killing the Copperband Butterfly. Same shaped fish do not necessarily get along i.e. yellow tang - purple tang/copperband butterfly or emperor angel with any other angel or simlarly shaped rabbitfish.

In larger tanks where the agression can be spread around you may have a better chance, but it is very risky even in a four foot tank irregardless of depth in my opinion.

Good point.

Would I be better off with something like a powder blue or that shape or should I nix the idea and get more snails?

I don't think the tank is big enough for a powder blue or anything else with that shape really.

I would nix the idea if it were me. Something that would be colorful...hmmm...have you considered an Anthias (I am partial to the Lyretail Anthias)

Also looking for something that eats algae. Color would be less important than the algae eating ability.

How are Kole tangs?

I think I will wait a month or so and see how the CBB establishes itself.

I would go with a purple tang, just make sure to add him last. This should take care of the aggression problem. If the copperbanded tries to beat up on the purple, he will get a nice little taste of his own medicine. Few fish are as nasty and mean.

Kole tangs are fantastic and is probably the best algae eater of all my tangs. The purple is a great algae eater as well.

Definitely give the CBB time to establish himself.

Both will be fine long term in a 125.

The Kole will be fine long term in the 75.

I am trying a kole tang also. Everything i've read of them sounds great, and i've got one on order from my LFS.

I have a blue tang in my 75. He is the only tang in the tank.

My Kole Tang is great. He was the first of my three Tangs in the tank and has never really shown much aggression towards my Yellow or Hippo.
