I'm having a heck of a time getting my tubestrea's polyps to come out. I have tried feeding it in a seperate container and the water quality is great. Any other ideas?

:D

They are at the bottom of the tank with a good bit of water flow. I read that they do not need the light.

Skip told me that they open up at night and i have heard from others that you need to target feed sun polyps.

You need to target feed them. One way is to use the top half of a plastic bottle that you place over them and then squirt some meaty food inside with a turkey baster.

If you put cyclopleez in the tank tey open up within half an hour, at least mine do. And yes they need to be target fed, low lighting is best and low flow is fine. They should be fed at least 3 times per week, I use brine and mysis.

I was just at AA and they said that you have to "train" them to open durring the day by consistantly target feeding them at the same time durring the day.

i just got some today and they already opened and ate. The trick is to feed your fish and let them open. Then use like a berry basket or something and put mysis in it so they can eat and no fish can get 2 them. They open at night or day. Most of the time at night tho. Just keep them in a darker area. Senn has had good luck with them if i recall. Hope that helps.

I used to take a tupperware bowl, fill it with tank water, put the sun coral in it, then put a bunch of cyclopeez into the bowl. About 10 min after the cyclopeez went into the bowl, all polyps would be out. Every 5 minutes, I will stir the water. It works well and all polyps get food. I did this twice a week for about 30-40 minutes each time. Good luck
