Looks like a torch to me. I have a purple with white tips that has fat tentacles like that compared to my longer tentacled green torch. Again, skeletal structure would be helpful to know for sure.

I'd say it's a Torch Coral newly introduced to your tank. The tenticles should elongate when the coral grows accustomed to your lighting & flow parameters.

i've had it about 3 or 4 weeks. i keep expecting its tentacles to elongate too but it hasn't happened.

It looks like one to me. I have a big torch that looks puffed out of its skelton most of the time altough it looks healthy. Any body know if this is normal?

It appears to be E. glabrescens, aka torch coral.

The tentacles will most likely extend further in stronger current. E. glabrescens can tolerate, and almost requires, more water movement than the other species of Euphyllia. I could be mistaken, but even from looking at the pictures I think it looks like it is in weaker current than your other torch.

Increased water movement will most likely =

great, thanks for all the help guys. what about lighting? does mh vs pc's make a difference? the green torch is right under the surface of the water under pc's. the brown torch is under mh & also near the top of the tank.
