I looked at my LPS tank and noticed a strange looking tentacle sticking out from one of the heads.

The bottom middle tentacle looked different from the others, so I looked a little closer.

Sure looks to me like the Euphyllia is pooping out a large bristle worm :eek1: .

I wanted to watch and see how long it was, but I had to leave after 2" was expelled. No body to be found but the starfish looks pretty happy.

wow... that's a first... an aggressive specimen for sure... do you direct feed the frogspawns?

reminds of that pic in Bornemans book of the hairy shroom eating the fish.

Is this an euphyllia ancora? If so what else are they know as?

It appears to be a Euphyllia divisia aka frogspawn. Nice Kodak moment at that!.

How do you see the difference? Euphyllia divisia vrs ancora?

Pretty easily distinguishable just by looking at th polyps, the ancora has almost horse shoe shapes at the ends of there tenticals and there overall colonial appearance takes the shape of roses in my opinion. While the frogspawns look like just that. Long strings of frog eggs, if youve ever seen frog eggs you'll realize instantly how they chose this name. Do a google image search and you'll see the difference yourself.
