Can a mirror be used for a reflector on a Metal halide system? It seems that with the reflector being so important, a mirror would reflect allot more light than a piece of metal. Any disadvantages?
mirrors make very POOR REFLECTORS.

Light has to pass through the glass, bounce off the reflective surface travel back though the glass and out. Not efficient at all.

Put it this way. A mirror is a polished aluminum surface with glass in front. A reflector is a polished aluminum surface.
Glass reduces light.
Mirror = worse than reflector.

These guys said it perfect. And just to let you know. A white reflector will reflect just as much light as a polished shinny surface. Cheers
